"Ready, Set, Brush!" book review

ready set brush book
This is a Sesame Street pop-up book by Che Rudko and Tom Brannon which we just bought one weekend on a trip to the campus bookstore. My younger son has been resisting having his teeth brushed recently (he loved it when we first started doing it), and I thought he might enjoy seeing Elmo do it, seeing as how he has an Elmo toothbrush and all, and calls it Ah-mo. He also says buh shhh (with a 1-2 second delay between the sounds), which I think means brush. In any case, it was worth trying.

I really didn't have high expectations regarding the book, since it was kind of a spontaneous purchase and the store was closing and I didn't really have a chance to look through it that much before getting it, but I am really glad that we did. It is a really cute and charming book, with interesting interactive activities that both my kids found to be quite amusing. As a plus, it was produced in collaboration with the American Dental Association. Fun and educational!

The activities are pretty fun too - there are pop-ups, wheels, pull tabs, and more - enough to keep the interest of our children. So far, they have held up to reasonable use, although I imagine there will be a limited shelf life (as many pop-up books have). I like the little attached board toothbrush that you use to brush the pop-up teeth of one of the monsters in book.

Worth the cost, despite paying full price. Of course, the next time I buy it (for gifts and whatnot), Amazon.com carries it for about $10.
